Cloudbeds

I tested Cloudbeds as the property management system for a 12-room boutique B&B comparing it to Mews and Little Hotelier for the same job. The portfolio mix included 8 rooms plus 4 small suites with breakfast service plus occasional event bookings, so the question was whether Cloudbeds covers true hospitality ops (frontdesk plus housekeeping plus restaurant tab handling) better than the vacation-rental-only alternatives like Guesty that some SMB hotels mis-adopt.

What worked best was the built-in channel manager plus the simple frontdesk module. Booking.com plus Expedia plus Airbnb plus Vrbo all synced from one screen, parity rates updated within 15 minutes, and the frontdesk view loaded faster than Mews on a slow rural internet connection. The housekeeping module assigned rooms to cleaners by status (departure, vacant dirty, vacant clean) with mobile checkbox confirmation. Payments via the integrated processor ran without bouncing between Stripe and the PMS for reconciliation. Reports built into the dashboard covered RevPAR plus ADR plus Occupancy out of the box without an export step. The Cloudbeds Marketplace covered the integrations most B&Bs actually need.

What broke or surprised: enterprise features lag behind Mews on the same price tier. Group bookings (a wedding block of 15 rooms) required manual workarounds, conference catering had no real module, and the API integration ecosystem is roughly half the size of the Mews Marketplace. The user interface shows its age - functional but visually 5 years behind Mews. Loyalty program plus guest CRM features required higher tiers. Mobile staff app is functional but limited compared to the Mews mobile-first approach.

Verdict in cohort: Cloudbeds for SMB hospitality (B&Bs, hostels, small hotels, hybrid lodging with a few rentals) where channel manager plus frontdesk plus payments in one tool matter more than enterprise depth. Mews for mid-market hotels needing API ecosystem plus mobile-first staff workflows. Guesty for pure vacation rentals only. Little Hotelier for sub-10-room operators. Pick Cloudbeds when the operator wants hospitality basics done right at SMB price.
